We at SeerPharma UK recognise the value of continuous learning for the Responsible Person. The RP Refresher course is now in a new format, adopting a project-like approach. It begins with all candidates taking part in a ‘taught’ session (2-3 hours) covering key Quality Management System tools and principles that will be used in individual projects.

You will then choose a project (or choose one from some suggestions) that is relevant and reflective of your workplace and own professional development. It is anticipated that candidates will choose just one project. Project examples include: transport validation, process flow improvements, maintaining the integrity of the supply chain, and designing a new process. Your mentor will be allocated depending on the project you choose. You will have up to three months to complete your project.

The project will be completed in your own time in the subsequent weeks following the initial session. Your allocated mentor will then review the work and provide necessary feedback. Where appropriate, projects may be done with support from your line manager and/or in collaboration with other candidates.

Course objectives

The Responsible Person must keep up-to-date with their knowledge and experience. This can be particularly challenging in a pressured work environment. The course will provide opportunities to meet those challenges and the ‘difficult to implement’ areas by tapping into the experience of the former MHRA inspector. The project is intended to focus on carrying out the role effectively and in demonstrating compliance to the inspector.

Expected course outcome

• The Responsible Person will be more confident in implementing activities that are not well described in GDP but are compliance expectations
• The Licence Holder will be able to demonstrate meeting the requirements of Regulation 45
• All course attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions from former MHRA inspectors – in relation to the course material and projects, or in more general terms, relating to the wholesale of medicinal products
